I will be giving a short talk this evening for CPLUG on VoIP and Asterisk: “Taking Back Your Phone System with VoIP & Asterisk: an overview”. John will be talking about Dropbox and John Place will be giving us an overview of Rackspace Cloud. I hear that Ubuntu One will be discussed too.
It should be [...]

This is a follow-up my original blog post here: Digium Confirms Major Issues with AA50 VoIP Appliance: Spotaneous Reboots and Memory Card Write-Lock, A Review
Since I originally posted, I seem to have found a band-aid fix that is getting our AA50 through the days without spontaneous reboots and dropped calls in the process. I thought [...]

Let me begin by saying that I am a big fan of Digium in general. All of their products that I have used thus far in several IP telephony / VoIP installations have worked tremendously well.
Background: Doug and I recently integrated a Digium AA50 phone system appliance with Polycom IP telephones for a small business [...]

A month or so back, a few members of Direct Brands‘ IT group presented to the Central PA VMUG (VMware User Group). The talk was focused on VMware’s View product and one item of special interest to me was how they got their SIP client software (soft phone) for Windows XP working on VMware View [...]

I got my Nokia E51 GSM cell / VoIP tonight and, thanks to user malubob on the Nokia forums, I have a working SIP voice over IP (VoIP) connection to CallCentric.com. These settings should apply to just about any S60 platform Nokia VoIP phone that you need to use on CallCentric; just remember that your [...]

This is a follow-up to this post.
CallCentric has been working great for outbound SIP trunking and customer support continues to be very responsive.
Unfortunately, CallCentric does not support oversubscribing direct-inward-dial (DID) numbers to single trunks / channels. This is a total bummer as it is often the case that a business has low simultaneous usage of [...]

The Digium Asterisk server at work needed to be switched to a new SIP/IAX service provider this past week and on Doug’s advice, I investigated CallCentric. The reviews were essentially all positive, so I signed up for the Pay Per Call $0.0198 / minute calling plan. The nice thing about this particular plan is that [...]

I came in to the office this morning to find all of our Polycom VoIP phones had the wrong time. Although the Asterisk server had been patched for the new daylight savings timeĀ (DST) rules, my sip.conf file had some incorrect configuration. I searched around the net and found a solution. Change your sip.conf file [...]
